Pillow Talk: The Rocky Road To Marital Paradise

Well, ladies, I told ya that Ruffles Ribbons N' Bows blog was more than just a showcase for our products. It is also a place where women can be women: Moms, wives, sisters, friends...and where we can laugh and share.

This is one of my marriage articles from Ezinearticles.com I LOVE writing! It is my passion and has been for over 20 years. When I was a child I wrote poems, short stories and essays that pertained to the roller-coaster ride of adolescence. Now that I am an adult, my subjects of choice are things I go through in my everyday life: marriage issues, motherhood, playgroups, and my faith. So here is one of my more recent articles on, you guessed it, marriage. Check it out and feel free to leave comment. ;-)

Enjoy!

RUFFLES RIBBONS N' BOWS NEEDS LOCAL BABY-TODDLER-KID MODELS!!!

Casting Call
Calling all LOCAL cutie-patooties!!! I've just opened my Etsy Boutique & am looking for cute kiddos to model my hair bows! If you are local to the Frisco, TX area (Frisco, Plano, McKinney, Prosper, Little Elm, Carrollton), and would like your little one to model our 'hair frosting', check out the details below to contact me! ;-)

Compensation
For allowing me to take pics, compensation would be two bows:
one hair-bow attached to an alligator clip and one hair-bow permanently attached to a headband.

The Photo Shoot
Here's the idea:
We'll settle on an appropriate venue, preferably a local park (weather permitting), as outdoor photos really seem to come out looking really professional. If your child could wear a white shirt (which will coordinate with any hair accessory), I'll snap a couple of photos of your child wearing several of my hair accessories. I'll bring a gift bag of bows and headband for you to choose from. After you've made your selection, you are done! The whole session should take between 15 - 20 minutes. I'll even have a small treat bag for the little one to thank them for their help! The pictures will be featured on my Etsy Boutique's website. Click here to visit the site. :)

How To Sign Up
If you'd like to sign your kiddo up for a session, email me with the subject: 'RRB Casting Call' to Rufflesribbonsandbows@yahoo.com. Send us your name, your child's name & age, your contact information, and your availability. Since I'm a work-from-home-mom, my schedule is pretty flexible, so I'm pretty easy to work with. =)

Thanks for your interest & helping to make Ruffles Ribbons N' Bows a success!

God Bless you & have an awesome day,

~ Michelle

The Damsel In Distress: Myths & Truths

We never know how high we are

Moms Supporting Moms: We CAN be WFH Entrepreneurs AND Moms!

Ever since I can remember, I've wanted to be a wife and mother. And whenever I thought of those things in the past, I always saw myself staying home with my child, investing my time & energy into my precious gift. Being home with my now four-year-old toddler, Arden, allowed me to literally watch him evolve from an infant to a little boy, never missing the important aspects of his preschool years. That was a Blessing that I truly am thankful to God for. Now, as he is approaching the home-schooling age, I'm thinking of what I can do to be a financial help to my hubby who works extremely hard to provide for us, all the while, still staying put where I believe God wants me to be: in my home. How do I do that?", I asked Him. Well, the answer was Ruffles Ribbons N' Bows.

My BFF told me several months ago before I started this venture to do something that I love. At the time I was drowning in a multi-level-marketing mess and was barely breaking even. My heart was totally devastated at my failure to be successful at a business I believed would be the answer to my extra income woes. When my friend told me that it was clear that I did not like, less known love the MLM business I was in, something clicked inside of me. I realized that she was right. I was miserable trying to keep an obviously sinking ship afloat and my life-vest was losing buoyancy fast. So I prayed for guidance on my next step to take...

BING! BOING!
A light went off in my head! God had given me the idea! It was so obviously simple too!

I went about the house, grabbing my sewing and crafting materials together like a madwoman. When I had compiled a weird selection of oddities, I thought "What now, Lord?"

Well, I brainstormed that evening, came up with a million and one ideas and one of those was what led to the birth of Ruffles Ribbons N' Bows.

I haven't even touched the surface of completing the jumping off point for staring a Mom-Owned-Business, but I'll get there. It takes the three P's: Passion, Patience, and Prayer, to see it through. I think I've got it covered, and if per chance, I lose my cool, its no sweat. I know that God will see me through the rough patches and get me to my entrepreneurial promised land.

In the meantime, I encourage all moms and women who aspire to any kind of greatness to defintely read two books by Kim Lavine, which are: 'Mommy Manifesto' & 'Mommy Millionaire'. Kim has a rags to riches story of how she turned her kitchen table craft into a million dollar enterprise! She was a SAHM too, whose hubby lost his job and she was forced to find a way to save her family. She did it! And so can we. Check out her site: http://www.mommymillionaire.com/ and do yourself a favor, pick up her books. You will thank me (and her) in the end. =D

P.S. also great for Mom Owned Businesswomen is networking & connecting.
This group is doing just that. Food for thought. ;-)

Little Pretties: RRB's "Hair Candy" Summer Line Sneak Peak

Little Pretties For The Little Pretty...hehe...Aren't they so sweet?
"Like Candy For Your Hair!"

Got a Sweet tooth
My Etsy Shop will open before the end of May to satisfy your cravings!
Sweet Candy - Just like my hair creations!

Determinate: Lemonade Mouth - RRB Style!

So I, the proud owner of Ruffles Ribbons N' Bows, is a HUGE Disney fan!
Makes sense, right? I mean I DO have a four-year-old boy (he just turned 4 on Monday, May 9th - YAY!!!) so it's only normal that I, a 31-year-old hip mom would watch the Disney Channel, right? WRONG! Sadly enough (I'm secretly proud of it), I was the one who influenced my barely two-year-old toddler at the time to watch good old Walt's legacy. There, I've said it! I'm out and I'm proud, baby!
I refuse to hide behind the "I only watch Hannah Montana because my child loves it" facade.
IheartDisney.com and that is all there is too it, gosh darn it!

That being said >>>giggling with laughter<<<Lemonade Mouth is my new WD original movie fave and it's message of individuality and being proud to be yourself has inspired me to raise my voice and shout to the rooftops: "I'm proud to start this Mom-owned business venture! I WILL be a Stay-At-Home-Mom AND an entrepreneur as well!
Ruffles Ribbons N' Bows is going to be the coolest shop on the Etsy block!"

<The Arnold Horsshack yellfest is over...>

{I'll be feasting on humble pie after publishing this post...but for now...humor me? ;-P}

Our Blog Is Born! Happy Birthday To Us!

We are shouting from the rooftops the greatest news ever! We have just launched our Etsy Boutique (soon to open its virtual doors in three weeks! And now...(tear drop) our baby has been born: The Boutique's Blog is here today! Whoo-hoo! Yippi! Jeepers! <Jeepers??> Sorry, but my three-year-old's Scooby Doo addiction had to factor in here somewhere. After all, I am a work from home mom. It's only natural that one of my biggest cheerleaders would influence me. You can't see me doing the happy dance <A rendition of the potty-dance> but, I'm doing it. And how! ;-D

So what is Ruffles Ribbons N' Bows all about, you ask? The phenomena that is sweeping Frisco, TX (ok, ok, maybe not sweeping) is my soon-to-open Etsy Boutique of unique hair accessories for babies, kiddos, and even  adults! So yes, you hot mommas out there can match your little ones in hair fashion or as I like to call my creations: Hair candy. I deemed them hair candy because they are just so darn sweet, they are like candy for your hair.

I LOVE making beautiful things for beautiful people and since I hand-craft & hand-create each of my bows, headbands, flower clips and more, it is extremely rewarding. And when I see someone sporting Ruffles Ribbons N' Bows' hair candy? It makes me smile. Because not only am I a business owner, but I'm a mom. And being able to work from home & be with my toddler is one of the best things about owning RRnB & I cannot wait to see where God takes us!

Thanks for coming on this journey with us!
