Why Don't We Flaunt Our Frosting & Enjoy Being "Girls" Again?

I've always loved the beginning of one of my favorite girl-girl films: "Legally Blonde". The scene where Elle Woods is getting ready for what she thinks is going to be her 'perfect day' reminds me of how much I used to LOVE getting ready to greet the world.
I used to be the ideal "Ultra-feminine" girl who wouldn't even dream of wearing jeans (or any pants for that matter), didn't even own a pair of sneakers and took out the trash in heels and a vintage frilly robe (sans the millions of curlers in my hair or the peppermint face mask I put on every night). I miss those days. Days filled with primping, and shopping and figuring out what 3 in heels would match which purse and what matching scarf would hang from the purse without distracting from my outfit. Yep...that was me.

Fastforward to what seems to be a million years later, even though it was only 10. I'm a loving, slightly trendy-when-my-SAHM budget allows 31 year old mom, wife, writer and businesswoman. I'm also soon-to-be a student in the Fall at our local community college. Going to see if I can hack it with the 21 and under crowd. Oh brother, what have I gotten myself into? :-P

I am saying all this because...well, because I was watching a clip from another one of my fave movies "Flower Drum Song" in which the beautiful Nancy Kwan sings "I Enjoy Being a Girl".
I was watching it and thinking of Ruffles Ribbons N' Bows Boutique. My whole reason for embarking on this ribbon-laced journey was to help my family earn a little extra money doing something that I love: making all girls & women everywhere feel like the pretty princesses we all are. We often forget that it is OK to be girly and to LOVE all the niceties that come with being females. There is nothing wrong with frill, lace, perfume, makeup, dresses, heels, long curly tresses. Its all dressing. It doesn't define us as gals, but it certainly is a perk. If we have come this far to earn equality as physicians, attorneys, professors, homemakers, businesswomen...it was to, in addition, flaunt our right to a little frosting. So lets all celebrate being girly-girls and flaunt our frosting...starting with my hair accessories <hehe> ...and working our way up. ;-)

Getting our tresses styled is a must-have for busy women.
We deserve a treat!

From the film "Clueless".
These girls made it a must to be ultra-girly and own it!
